OK here is the latest news:

Wow what a summer we have had with our open days and well over 300 children visiting and numerous adults.  Also we have various groups using the woods to provide service support to others.  Busted Bikers has again been running and still is every Thursday night.  And our Mini Growers has seen some successful growing from our younger members!!  Our open days continue through the winter months on each first Saturday of the month.  We will soon update the pictures on here but for the latest news and pics visit our ever growing Facebook page.

Well yet again we have had a busy summer and the summer of 2014 has seen over 250 children enjoy the woods.  We also had a success with Halloween and throughout the year many volunteers have joined us and services used the project.

Our AGM will be held in a few weeks on Nov 11th at 1pm.  It will be in the woods, weather permitting (portacabin if raining), and we will have someone at the gate to let anyone in that wishes to join us.  We will be voting in the committee as well as other agenda items.  Feel free to come along.

Wow have we had a busy summer with lots of clubs coming to use the woods such as Smartiezone, The Acorn etc.  Also we had an amazing Halloween with thanks to the Princes Trust team.

There is now also the start to an adventure play route all to be completed but still you can use what is already in place.

And now we have lovely supporters who are sponsoring our badgers and foxes that we help feed. Oh and did we mention we have chickens!!

Well we now have an amazing rope walk through the tree's between two towers, one of which is a tree house and soon to have a special addition built.  The allotements are almost all leased out and it's great to see the others being used and plenty of fruit and veg being grown.

And we welcome two companies who have really helped us.  Firstly thank you to Greg and Andy at McDonalds and their team who kindly came back up and built some more allotements!  And also welcome on board Jackie and her team at LLoyd Maunders in St Marychurch who are also helping us out and making a real difference to the project.  The help from all these people keeps us going thank you.

A big thanks goes to Tanks Direct Ltd who have given us two massive water tanks holding 1000l each.  This makes a real difference as we have no other water source on site.

Also check out our new decking area where you can relax and in the evenings you can see our new badger set come out and eat! Thanks to Princes Trust for helping with the decking including raising money to purchase the decking!!

We have had some amazing wood donated by Travis Perkins which will make a real difference in the woods.  Also we are improving the access to the allottements and ampitheatre with the pathway being levelled and soon to have scalpings put down.

After a winter break for most of our volunteers we are happy to say teams are back working in the woods.  Through the winter our chairman and a couple of others have constantly been checking on the woods badgers and birds.

Here's looking forward to a great year.

Fencing is being installed this week!  The cliff edge will finally be fenced off and the area safe to use!  Pics to follow soon.

Growing at Woodend.....

We are having great success with our allotements and now we have in place raised beds which have many different vegetables growing!  We have also found in the woods cherry tree's, sloe and other fruit tree's!  These are now thriving with the overgrowth having been removed across a large parts of the woods.

        Break ins.

Unfortunatly we have been suffering from youths breaking in and damaging parts of the project, including throwing one of the ladders over the cliff edge.  Many thanks to Devon fire and rescue for recovering this.  And a big thank you to our local PCSO Ollie Abercrombie for catching the youths and dealing with the situation.

PALLETMANIA SUCCESS :-)

We have now had to Palletmania days with Bill Callaghan and Palletopia (Learn4Life).  It was wonderful and over 40 children enjoyed learning how to recyle pallets!

Hurd MP Minister for Civil Society visits

Today, Aug 22nd, Lesley and Andy from NCS kindly included our project in his tour of the area. Have a look at photos 3 for a view of what happened.

Many thanks also to all those who came to our open/funday :-)

Compost toilet now built and we have won £500 from Arla foods!! (follow link for story) http://www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/Children-s-wildlife-project-reaps-pound-500-grant/story-12748356-detail/story.html

If you haven't been up the woods recently you are in for a big surprise!!  After our clearing weekends and lots of help from the Probation team who have made an amazing difference to the woods especially our Ampitheatre.  The changes are really visible and practical.  The Woodend Project is coming along nicely and soon rather than later all will be able to enjoy it.

We are also working hard on getting funding.  We have had some success and must say thank you to the Watcombe Community Partnership for their support.

Its been all happening at the woods with a new entrance now dug out, with thanks to Terry Horton.

Over the last few weeks it has been nice to have some more children coming in to help as this is what the project is all about.  We are also now linked with Creative Play Torbay and we have had children attend their first event with one at ours on the  4th August!

FUN DAY to be 18th August 10 - 2 all welcome.

Thanks for the continued support and we will keep you updated on this site and Facebook
